The Lough Shore Hotel, Carrickfergus, located just 20 minutes from Belfast City is now home to one of Northern Ireland’s largest and most innovative children’s play centres – World of Wonder, opened its doors on October 17th 2016.
Sprawling over 12,000 square foot, World of Wonder is Northern Ireland’s newest investment in children’s play. The adventurous centre is built with a noble purpose at heart, to encourage the most active, imaginative and stimulative play amongst Northern Ireland’s young. General admission to World of Wonder is £4.95 (off peak) and £5.95 (peak) per child for a 90 minute around the world adventure.

The World of Wonder experience is an adventure that children up to 12 will never forget. As well as keeping kids fit, World of Wonder gives little ones the opportunity to learn about different cultures and countries at every turn. Kids will feel a surge of adrenaline as they race down World of Wonder’s massive 4 lane Mount Everest themed slide. Kids can have a snowball fight in the North Pole with impressive air cannons. Some of the greatest sights on earth such as the Eiffel Tower, Colosseum, Sydney Opera House and even a Carrick a Rede rope bridge are waiting to be explored. Toddlers are well catered for too with a fairy-castle area available exclusively for knights and princesses under 4.

Stephen Kearney, Developer of World of Wonder said, “We have created a valuable space for children to creatively explore their imagination in an inspiring, safe environment. Parents will be pleased by our affordable, meaningful offering that can be enjoyed by everyone in the family from toddlers to tweens. The child’s enjoyment and development are the pillars of the World of Wonder project. We are really excited to open doors our doors and let the fun begin.”

World of Wonder is proud to pioneer Northern Ireland’s most innovative indoor play solution allowing children to step away from the screen and plug into a more stimulating space. Today’s child is becomingly increasingly tempted by technology through game consoles, tablets and mobile phones. World of Wonder enables the child to be physical and creative and collaborate with other children – all essential parts of a child’s development.

Educational Psychologist Dr Ciara Totten advocates the importance of free, imaginative play in children.
She said; “Having fun is certainly a key factor in play, however research tells us there is far more to play than enjoyment alone. Play contributes to advances in cognitive, social, language and emotional department- it allows children to express themselves. Play builds a child’s confidence, gives them practice with problem solving and encourages their creativity.”

Alongside the importance of play, World of Wonder understands the importance of making beautiful memories, particularly on special occasions. Celebrations are well catered to with 4 party rooms to choose from – Animal Party, Beach Party, Super Hero Party or Princess Party. These unique party rooms are fully themed with wall and furniture decorations as well as a special throne for the birthday boy or girl. There is also the Word of Wonder Toy Factory where children can make their own party bear as a take home reminder of their special day. Party packages start at just £9.95 per child including an hour of play, choice of food and drink and access to VIP party room and every birthday boy or girl gets a free return pass.

World of Wonder is not just a place where the kids can benefit, parents can enjoy World of Wonder’s Café serving a selection of teas and coffees, sandwiches and the best in international cuisine. With free Wi-Fi and comfortable surroundings Mum and Dad can take a well-deserved breather while the kids have fun.
With further developments planned for an indoor golf course, laser tag and simulators, World of Wonder promises to be Northern Ireland most dynamic and exciting Family Entertainment Centre.
