This month I visited Martina Collins Dental and Skin Clinic to try out the ULTRACEL ultrasound facial – an £800 medi-cosmetic facial which has radical effects on skin tone and gives a powerful lift with just one treatment.
This new and exclusive medi-facial uses a combination of high intensity focused ultrasound and fractional micro-needling radiofrequency. It is a revolutionary, zero-downtime face-lifting technology, using the power of gentle yet powerful ultrasound, and fractionalized micro needling radiofrequency to lift not just the skin, but also the deep muscle layer (SMAS – Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System) underneath. This SMAS layer was previously only reached by surgical facelifts, and so Ultracel now boasts the most complete non-surgical face-lifting technology
As she twirled the mini baton on my skin, Martina explained that by using the safe, time-tested energy of ultrasound, the deep structural support layers of the skin are stimulated without disturbing the visible surface layers of the skin. The Radio frequency waves in Ultracel also stimulate the growth of new collagen over time, to gradually strengthen and tone skin from within – starting from the top down and working layer by layer. Happy days!
During the treatment, warm pulses of ultrasound energy are delivered deep under the skin, causing the muscle layer to contract. It’s not painful but you do feel a slight internal ‘tugging’ which I took as a sign that it was working. At the same time, the micro-needling fractional radio frequency boosts collagen in the dermis and creates transformational changes in the quality of the skin. The gentle heat with this also encourages the healthy, natural process of rejuvenation, stimulating your skin to produce its own fresh new collagen, making skin firmer, brighter, tighter and more elastic.
In less than an hour I was able to go about my day as normal – and, thanks to a single Ultracel procedure, I had tighter, firmer and plumper skin without any downtime. We took before and after shots and I saw how the treatment had actually lifted and toned loose skin on my cheeks and neck. There was definitely a short-term “boost” to my skin in general but the natural process of creating new, more elastic collagen builds over time Martina tells me. (Can’t wait!)
For me, the treatment is worth it to see the noticeable lift and difference in tone and elasticity. The longer term results will hopefully speak for themselves too, however, I would definitely advise that the Ultracel is not a “facelift.” It is an uplift, and while it is not a replacement for surgery, it is a viable option for those not ready for a facelift or those looking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery.
The treatment is perfect for tightening and lifting the skin on the neck, under the chin, the jowls and jawline, the brow, around the eyes, and treating wrinkling and sagging on the décolletage and body. It can also diminish large pores and treat acne & acne scarring.
