As sure as the Sun rises in the East, the LADY BOYS OF BANGKOK are heading back to Custom House Square in Belfast with a brand new cabaret infused show this November! The hottest funniest production this side of Bangkok is back with ‘Beauties and the Beats’, taking the UK & Ireland to the highest levels of frantic fun, lively laughter and unabated euphoria as only the Lady Boys know how!
The ladies are bringing the beat back to Belfast like no else can from Friday 6th November to Saturday 21st November, in the Sabai Pavilion, Custom House Square, BT1 3FG – adding some tantalizing Thai spice to your 2015!
This year’s furious fever-pitch of a show includes 16 of Thailand’s most alluring and arresting Lady Boys who are here in the UK for a record breaking 17th season! Never has a name been more apt for a show – this blazing hot production seamlessly blends comedy and chart topping hits with the beautiful choreography of the Lady Boys to bring you a staging like no other!
The Lady Boys of Bangkok fast became the countries favourite touring cabaret show since their debut at Edinburgh Fringe back in 1998 – since then our intimate and warm venue, the Sabai Pavilion, has become an annual staple for many cities up and down the country! The Sabai Pavilion itself is a cabaret venue like no other – from the moment you enter the foyer the smells, sights and sounds transport you to an oriental world of our making.
As always the pavilion has two fully licenced and well stocked bars to help you cool down with an ice cold beverage should it get to hot to handle – and our resident chef is always on hand to delight your taste buds with some authentic Thai cuisine. Through these sensory delights the cabaret atmosphere permeates the pavilion, meaning you’ll be in the Lady Boys spirit before you even take your seat!
This will be the 7th year Lady Boys of Bangkok have brought their unique brand of cabaret to the city of Belfast, and it’s clear the audiences here still have a thirst for live, immersive performances. Creative Director Phillip Gandey said he is thrilled to be returning to Belfast “we love bringing a little blast of summer to Belfast every year around November and we couldn’t pick a better city to be the last stop in this year’s tour. The people of Belfast truly immerse themselves in the cabaret spirit of the show and it makes the city an annual highlight. This year’s brand new production ‘Beauties and the Beats’ has been in the making since last November, and we’re very excited to share it with all our amazing Irish fans.”
Director Carol Gandey added “The spirit of cabaret is well and truly alive in the Lady Boys Sabai Pavilion and this year’s show makes no exception. We’ve been planning and rehearsing since last year to give our fans a completely unique experience, as we do every year, which we’re sure our audiences in Belfast will love!”
The show contains more than 400 specially designed lavish costumes – everything from fabulous feathers to diamante draped designer-inspired couture – backed by an eclectic mix of musical genres including movie hits, superstar pop favourites and a splash of dance added to keep the rave going long into the night! With more songs and production numbers than you could shake your hips to, from Jersey Boys to The Sound of Music and even a special homage to Frozen! This year’s show will once again be paying tribute to the stars of both stage and screen old and new….from Liza to Cher then at the turn of glistening twirl from Rhianna to Nicki!
