TAYTO PARK, Ireland’s only theme park and zoo, today confirmed that it has applied to Meath County Council for Planning Permission to build a 32,000 square-metre, 250 bedroom family hotel which will offer accommodation and leisure facilities for up to 1,000 guests.

The seven-storey hotel will be built from wood to match the look and feel of the County Meath park and will be in a parkland setting.

Tayto Park is one of the most popular attractions on the island of Ireland, with total visitor numbers last year rising to a record 762,351.  A quarter of all visitors come from Northern Ireland which means that almost 200,000 thrill seekers from the north visited the park last year.

The hotel will give visitors an option to stay overnight and will include a spa, meeting rooms and a function room that can accommodate up to 1,200 people as well as two sky bars and three restaurants.

It is estimated that the proposals will provide 150 jobs during the construction of the hotel and 272 full and part time jobs when completed.

Tayto Park is home to a range of rides and attractions for all ages, as well as its own on-site zoo which hosts an exceptional and diverse animal collection.

Popular rides include the gravity-defying Rotator, the Power Surge and The Cú Chulainn Coaster, Ireland’s first rollercoaster and Europe’s First wooden rollercoaster with an inversion.

The Park has also invested heavily in two new attractions which are due to open this summer, the Viking Voyage at the Park water flume ride and the World of Raptors birds of prey demonstration.

With easy access from Northern Ireland and free parking for cars and buses, Tayto Park caters to a wide range of sectors including families, couples, schools, birthday parties, corporate events and even weddings.
