T13 in the vibrant Titanic Quarter will play host to Cypher Sessions, the fifth annual International Breakdancing Championships this Saturday, 3 October.

Competitors from all over Ireland, the UK and Europe will compete in this, the biggest Bboy (Break Dance) battle in the bid to win the prestigious world championship title and £1000 prize money.

Cypher Sessions is organised by Belfast businessman Paul Ashford, also one of Ireland’s top break-dancers, Paul is excited about the forthcoming event.  He says;

“Cypher Sessions, although only in its fifth year, has already a massive following and attracts competitors from all over Europe. I am part of this culture and my ultimate aim is to promote and nurture it. This event promotes the mantra  of ‘Peace, Love, Unity and Having Fun’, unites different dance cultures from around the world, breaks down community barriers and helps to change the media’s perception of HipHop.”  Paul continues;

Cypher Sessions is undoubtedly one of Ireland’s most unique events and attracts hundreds of spectators.  It’s a great family fun day out too. T13 is a fitting venue too, with their deep routed urban sport and dance heritage.  The guys at T13 are very supportive and I’m indebted to them for their ongoing support.”

As well as hosting the world championship competition, youth groups, dance groups, families and local artists will also get the opportunity to learn Bboying (breakdancing), Mcing, Graffiti, music and video production but most importantly they will develop a lasting passion and understanding for HipHop culture.

Cypher Sessions is encouraging as many people to come and enjoy the dance circles, rhyme circles, DJing and video projections that will be running all day in the lead up to the European Championships.

The event takes place in T13 in The Titanic Quarter from 12pm – 4pm and is free of charge until then. From 5pm onwards the main Cypher Sessions event will kick off with entry fee of £10 for adults and £5 for under 16s and under 4s go free.
