Studio Souk is moving from Spires Mall to Castle Lane and the exciting new space is open for business on Tuesday 25th November.
Studio Souk is an open plan Studio and retail space, which allows local artists and designers to work while the general public can watch them work and browse for handmade & unique treasures. Amazingly the expansion comes less than a year after Studio Souk Ltd was set up.
Linzi Rooney, the Director of Studio Souk, provides a space to support local artists and designers in a stimulating and creative environment. This gives lots of single person enterprises valuable peer support and a opportunity to be involved in a creative community. The support within the Studio creates an atmosphere in which creativity thrives as artists learn from one another and collaborate together.
Not only will the new and improved space house many of Belfast’s creatives, it will also welcome an exciting new Studio Souk coffee and tea bar as well the well renowned E-Cigarette Club inviting our customers to browse our retail space whilst sampling new Studio Souk experiences.
Studio Souk promotes the professional development of creative entrepreneurs with workshops in specialist areas such as social media, visual merchandising, branding and networking. It also allows local creatives to engage with potential customers and get direct feedback about their products.
Studio Souk was also recently given funding by Belfast City council to carry out a project titled SycleSouk, to help reach the target of 45% recycling for Belfast by 2015. The SycleSouk project will pick up old bikes from Belfast homes and fix them up new to help reduce our landfill.
Studio Souk has some exciting up and coming designers on board, Kiera Ann from Kam Kouture, Nicola Drennan Ceramics and Sharon Hay from Innocent Chaos who is also Studio Souk’s award winning visual merchandiser. There are also some more well established designers involved such as Grainne Maher from Pluck and Devour and Stephen Farnan Pottery. With this eclectic mix of experience and talent, Studio Souk is a fantastic incubation space for any new & merging artist, designer or maker, who can learn from and be inspired by a whole host of wonderful like-minded creatives.
Studio Souk was also given the honour of being awarded as a Top 50 businesses in Belfast 2014.
This idea of shopping local, ethical consumerism, and the environmental benefits that go along with it are a main focus for this local business. Giving the modern shopper a unique experience and a break from the monotony of the high street.
