The UK’s largest ferry operator, P&O Ferries, has re-launched the Express, its fast ferry service between Larne and Troon, following a £500,000 investment to re-design and refit the ship throughout.

From today, passengers will notice attractive new facilities designed to provide a relaxed, enjoyable and efficient service while on board.

The newly installed Club Lounge with capacity for up to 90 passengers offers a haven of peace and quiet. Complimentary daily newspapers and magazines are available along with complimentary refreshments including soft drinks, teas, coffees, wine and tasty snacks while the new and exclusive Club Lounge menu offers delicious light meals.

There are sockets for passengers who need to catch up on work and use their laptops, tablets and mobile phones.

The Express also has attractive new family features including a family lounge and bar fitted with a Wii room for added fun and at peak travelling times there will be entertainers on board to ensure even the smallest of sailors enjoy their trip.

Costa coffee provides a new coffee shop and there’s brand new food court serving hot, cold and healthy food options and kids meals while an airline style ‘at your seat’ trolley service ensures passengers never have to leave the comfort of their seat.

Priority unloading is also now available for added convenience.

Keith Millar, Head of Operations for P&O Ferries, Irish Sea said: “P&O Ferries has made a significant investment in the Express service and we are looking forward to the reaction of our passengers when they see the fabulous improvements we have made throughout the Express. Everything we have done has been designed to offer style, comfort, peace and quiet and above all an excellent on board experience.”

The P&O Express offers the fastest route for passengers travelling between Ireland and Scotland with journey time of two hours 15 minutes between Larne and Troon. The ports are also within easy reach of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast making the Express service one of the most convenient routes on the Irish Sea.

The upgrades to the Express Service extend beyond the fixtures and fittings of the ship with improvements to timetables and competitive fares for passengers.

Club Lounge tickets booked in advance cost £12 per person while tickets purchased on board cost £14 per person.
