Newtownards based Peninsula Care Services, Northern Ireland’s leading domiciliary care, nursing and recruitment agency is sponsoring the Irish Premier of Sunset Boulevard, which will be staged at The Grand Opera House, Belfast from 7 – 10 October.

Big hearted boss Jonny Cook had no hesitation in sponsoring the charity event after seeing the lead of the production Mark McMullan perform at the Spirit of Northern Ireland Awards earlier this year.  Mark McMullan, from Crossgar, has touched the hearts of over one million viewers on You Tube after performing ‘Bring him Home’ from Les Miserables to his brother Declan who has locked in syndrome after suffering a cardiac arrest in 2012.  Declan cannot eat, speak, move or see and is confined to a wheelchair. He is fully cognitive but cannot communicate, however Mark’s singing brings comfort and a calming atmosphere to Declan.

Jonny Cook says;

“When I heard Mark singing at The Spirit of Northern Ireland Awards I was totally overwhelmed by his talent and instinctively knew that he was going to be destined for big things.  Mark has won a host of new admirers including Hollywood actor Russell Crowe, Alfie Boe and Gary Lightbody and all the staff at Peninsula Care Services are big fans too.  At Peninsula we care for people with brain injuries and numerous disabilities, so we thought this sponsorship would be a perfect fit for what our company mantra represents.  We look forward to hearing Mark perform on the premiere night along with The Patrick’s Choral Society and hope that the show raises much needed funds for the Stuck for Words campaign.”

Sunset Boulevard runs from 7-10 October in The Grand Opera House and tickets are available from www.goh.co.uk or by phoning 02890 241919.  All proceeds will go to the Declan McMullan’s Stuck for Words Campaign and benefit several charitable organisations throughout Northern Ireland.
