It’s lights, camera, action at The OUTLET Banbridge as the leading leisure complex welcomes Omniplex Group on site. The arrival of the first ever Omniplex Cinema to Banbridge is part of a recent investment at the retail park by real-estate management firm Tristan Capital Partners and local company, The Lotus Group. The brand new Omniplex Cinema signals that work aimed at enhancing the leisure and food and beverage offering at The OUTLET, is well underway.

As well as enhancing the visitor offering at The OUTLET, the state of the art Omniplex Cinema marks a £4.5m investment to the area, creating 25 brand new full and part-time jobs. The OUTLET is a well thought out choice for the Omniplex Group as the site has incredible potential, marked first and foremost by its easy access catchment population of 1.1m within a 60 minute drive of its location.

Speaking on the new venture, NI operations director of the Omniplex Group, Paul John Anderson commented: “The Banbridge area has been of keen interest to our business for some time now. The opportunity to locate at The OUTLET, during this exciting period of investment and development, posed the ideal time for us to finally break ground in Banbridge and continue the expansion of Omniplex Cinemas in Northern Ireland. Our goal was to create the highest quality cinema experience and have invested £4.5m to date, creating 25 new jobs all employed locally. Our state of the art Banbridge Omniplex boasts 8 auditoriums including Northern Ireland’s first ever Omniplex MAXX screen with dual Sony 4K Projection resulting in 16.5 million pixels onscreen, standard auditoria boast 2 million pixels. Our Omniplex MAXX screen also includes Dolby Atmos 3D immersive sound for the ultimate viewing experience. We are very excited to open our doors and welcome visitors so they can experience and share in our love for movies on the big screen.”

The cinema is set to be one of the busiest in Northern Ireland throughout the remainder of 2016 with almost 6,000 blockbuster screenings scheduled including Ghostbusters, Star Trek Beyond, The BFG, Finding Dory, to name a few. The high tech cinema boasts an acclaimed MAXX screen, guaranteeing the viewer their most immersive cinematic experience ever. Omniplex Banbridge is home to Northern Ireland’s first ever MAXX screen with dual projection and this advanced a sound system. Two projectors work side by side to blast the highest quality picture on to a mammoth 20 meter screen, whilst 41 individually amped speakers pump out sound effect from the screen itself. The MAXX auditorium is designed with optimum sight lines in mind – curved screens give optimum viewing pleasure whether at middle or edge seating. Seats are custom designed for comfort so the viewer can sit back and truly feel part of the world in front of them. The remaining 7 auditoriums are equipped with a high class Sony 4K projection system and Dolby 7.1 surround sound for captivating and pleasurable viewing.

The new addition to The OUTLET promises to become a firm favourite with families with 1,500 free parking spaces on site, assigned seating, pre-booking of tickets and weekend Kids Clubs tickets priced at just £2 per person. For families of children with autism, sensory screenings are also scheduled at weekends where lights are dimmed instead of turned off completely and sound levels are lowered to make for more comfortable viewing. The new Omniplex has ensured that everyone can enjoy their favourite actors on the big screen with a Tuesday Treat offering £3.50 tickets and subtitled screenings every Monday.

Chris Nelmes, centre manager at The OUTLET commented on the cinema’s arrival: ‘The OUTLET Banbridge is undergoing a period of investment to re-invigorate the current offering. Part of this involves enhancing the leisure offering so that Northern Irish families have even more to enjoy here. The first sign of this is evident as leading cinema group, Omniplex open the doors to their state of the art, 8 screen complex. The corner where the brand new Omniplex is located will become a dedicated food and beverage section and we have wasted no time with work on a new McDonalds already underway. We look forward to engaging with the local community as further changes take place on site across leisure, food and beverage and retail.”

The OUTLET Banbridge was recently acquired in what was of the largest retail deals to ever take place in the region. Over 50 leading including Nike, DKNY, LK Bennett and GAP have a presence at the 204,354 sq. ft. outlet shopping village, alongside cafes, restaurants and leisure activities. Further local and international fashion brands will be joining the fold in the coming months as part of the substantial development.
