Local girl, Kerry Moody from Bangor based salon, DKY Hair Company has been awarded one of the highest hairdressing accolades in the UK & Ireland winning the Ireland Gold in the CREATIVE VISION Category at the Wella Professionals TrendVision Award 2018 UK & Ireland Final on Monday 8 October – one of the world’s most prestigious annual hairdressing competitions.

Kerry competed against hundreds of hairdressers from across Ireland at the Regional Heats earlier this year securing her position at the UK & Ireland Final, held at the famed Roundhouse in London’s Camden. The UK & Ireland Final was hosted by TV star Emma Willis and included a glitzy drinks reception, exquisite formal dinner and some incredible hair shows. The night saw her compete against some of the country’s most talented hairdressers to take home the Wella Professionals TrendVision Award 2018 Ireland Gold in the CREATIVE VISION category.

The next step for Kerry is to represent Ireland at the International TrendVision Award in Lisbon, Portugal, in November where they will experience a money can’t buy mentoring retreat.  Prior to this, she will receive an inspirational three-day mentoring programme hosted by industry icons Darren Ambrose, Cos Sakkas, Jake Unger, Paul Adamczuk and Robert Eaton.

“The Wella Professionals TrendVision Award is a truly global hairdressing competition that focusses on nurturing and developing talent. It is one of the most respected programmes in the hairdressing industry and we are incredibly proud of the winners. It is a huge achievement to be recognised at this level and I wish all the winners every success.” Sheila Jackson, Education and Events Director, Wella UK & Ireland.

This year marks 8 years in business for DKY Hair Company, based in Bangor Co. Down, and during this time the team of stylists and hair professionals have gone from strength to strength. Salon Director, Michelle Young said,

‘I couldn’t be happier or prouder of Kerry and her team and what they have achieved at the Wella Professionals TrendVision Awards. It is both a privilege and an honour to be recognised on such a global hairdressing stage and we can’t wait for the next step in this journey.”
