Kings of the Stage

Well the first night of Tennents Vital kicked off at Boucher Playing Fields with punk legends The Undertones, Irish rock three-piece The Minutes, The Vaccines, and of course, headliners The Kings of Leon – who kept the crowd on top form despite the best intentions of the weather to dampen the mood.

A packed crowd were along to enjoy all four acts – especially the chart-topping headliners with their distinctive sound. As soon as lead singer Caleb Followill started singing they made their mark on the TVital stage and the crowd were captivated from the word go dancing and singing along to a fantastic set which included favourites such as ‘Use Somebody’, and of course, everyone’s favourite chart topper, ‘Sex on Fire’, which was tactically held back for their encore set – and it was well worth the wait!

About 90,000 music fans are expected in south Belfast over the next three days for the Tennent’s Vital festival. With Snow Patrol – who made this concert their only European festival date this summer – headlining tonight supported by local talent Foy Vance and Jason Mraz and Kodaline.

On Friday, Tinie Tempah, Rudimental and Naughty Boy complete the line up, before dance star Avicii closes the festival.
