This month, Judith Mulgrew from Skin Medispa discusses the Dermica Pen – often referred to as a ‘non-surgical facelift’ it is one of the most advanced non-invasive, Anti-Aging skincare treatments!

One of the questions I get asked most frequently by my clients is ‘How do I get rid of these lines and wrinkles?!’ We all want younger, smoother and healthier looking skin, and I am delighted to be able to offer clients a range of cutting edge skincare treatments which offer just that!

Of course, there is no such thing as a miracle treatment; I do believe that a good skincare routine, drinking plenty of water and having a healthy diet and lifestyle go a long way to helping our skin look and feel its best, but with some of the best anti-aging skincare treatments available at Skin Medispa, it’s always good to give our skin that extra bit of help!

The Dermica Pen is a high performance micro-needling treatment that rejuvenates the skin, restoring balance, suppleness and texture – all without any discomfort!

About the size of a pen, this hand held device contains tiny micro-needles that gently penetrate the skin, stimulating the skin’s natural production of collagen and elastin. The result is smoother, more refined skin and a noticeable reduction in wrinkles due to the skin tightening effects of the treatment.

To begin the treatment a serum is applied which in turn hydrates the skin and locks in moisture. It is normal to feel the motion of the pen on your skin in the form of a light pressure, rest assured there is no pain or discomfort. Following treatment a soothing gel mask and aftercare cream are applied. Although redness will occur during and after the treatment, this will settle within a number of hours – you can pop on your makeup again the same day! The following day after treatment, you can resume your skincare routine as normal, following the aftercare advice your therapist has provided.

In total, the treatment lasts approximately 60 minutes. Whilst many clients notice a positive change in their skin just after one treatment, a course of at least 3-6 treatments is recommended to guarantee longer lasting and more noticeable results.
