The Harp Angel has taken flight at Féile an Phobail (30th Jul – 9th Aug) to kick start Northern Ireland’s largest arts festival and celebrate Harp’s sponsorship of the popular West Belfast event. The Angel was getting in on the act at the iconic ‘Big Top’ which will host headline act UB40. The tent is pitched in Falls Park ahead of the start of the festival this weekend.

Championing Northern Ireland’s optimistic spirit and the unique way of ‘looking on the Harp side’, the local Irish lager will be on ‘tap’ throughout the two week-long festival to cater for over 10,000 people expected to attend.

This year also marks the 27th anniversary of the West Belfast Féile and the festival organisers have pulled out all the stops, securing a stellar line-up for the event. As well as 80’s pop sensation UB40 (featuring Ali, Astro and Mickey) a host of other big names will join the line-up including: The Wolfe Tones, The Human League and Country Goes West.

Speaking about the partnership, Cathal O’Neill from Diageo Northern Ireland said; “We are delighted to sponsor Féile an Phobail and feel that Harp, as one of Northern Ireland’s favourite lagers, is the perfect pouring partner.  It’s also a great way for us to give something back to the publicans who’ve supported us year in, year out and we hope that people throughout the city take the opportunity to get involved in the wide range of arts and cultural activities.”

Féile Director Kevin Gamble added; “It’s absolutely fitting that Ireland’s biggest community festival should team up with one of Northern Ireland’s favourite lagers! It’s great for us as a festival to have such a prestigious brand on board, but it’s also a wonderful boost for the community as a whole. We can think of no better partner than Harp to help take Féile an Phobail on to the next level of success!”

The ten day August Féile takes place over the first two weeks in August and includes: music concerts, comedy, exhibitions, discussions and debates, literary events, dramas, out door and community events, street performances, carnival parade, international food fayre, sports, tours and walks.
