Belfast milliner and award winning accessories designer Grainne Maher will opened the doors of her first permanent retail outlet on Friday 31st July at Spires Mall, Belfast.
Following the success of her pop-up store ‘Proof’, which led to the talented designer’s iconic perspex necklaces being worn by Selena Gomez at the 2011 MTV Music Awards, the designer has been looking for the perfect location to become a long-term home for up and coming fashion design talent alongside established independent designers.
“When I set up Proof, which stocked local independent designers, it really was ‘proof’ that the talent here in Northern Ireland needed a retail outlet to be the life blood of the industry. Consumers are looking for something different from what the high street can offer and are keen to support up and coming talent. I’ve been looking for the perfect home to house my own millinery studio and the retail space, and finally founded it at Spires Mall,” said Grainne Maher. “I have also been exhibiting at London Fashion Week for several seasons and found incredible Irish and UK based designers with something unique to offer Belfast shoppers. I hope that the shop will be a beacon for fashion design talent and attract shoppers from all over Ireland.
”The shop interior has been co-designed by Victor Branco and James Failey of Atelier Design Belfast, which will evolve over the coming weeks and months with fashion and interiors collaborations.
The public will get a first look at the vibrant new boutique and millinery studio stocking a range of independent fashion and accessory labels from Ireland and the UK including womenswear, bags, millinery, jewellery, and accessories as well housing art exhibitions and installations at a preview event from 6-9pm on Friday 31st July.
