As we are gearing-up for the fall and the New York Fashion Week having just wrapped-up, we are so excited to share with you some of the latest trends straight from the streets of New York City! Amra and I just had the privilege of attending our first ever New York Fashion Week, and it was amazing to see so many talented individuals having arrived from all over the world. The streets were filled with bustling fashion talent and onlookers, who could not help but to snap millions of photos at the sight of such fashionistas. Thus, it was our honor to participate in NYFW’s series of events (from fashion shows like Desigual, Lauren DeWitt, and La Petite Robe di Chiara Boni) to private parties (like Haney for Net-a-Porter at Elizabeth Taylor’s former home and an NFL celebrity brunch).
Our take for the U.S. fall fashion is to keep it simple yet be recognizable. Although the minimalist-chic trend has swept across the fashion world, adding colorful ‘70s prints seems to be ok so long as you keep the outfit balanced with neutral colors. When it comes to fall colors, stick to camel, pine green, navy, gray and maroon, and a black and white combo is always a safe choice. As for the fall fashion staple pieces, always have on hand a khaki colored trench and a wide brimmed hat, you can never go wrong with those two. They are easy to throw-on and add so much sass to your look. Finally, you can always cozy-up with an oversized cashmere, tweed or velvet blazer to add that touch of cool to your outfit.
Below, we have included a selection of our photos from NYFW, where we couldn’t quite show off our fall looks since it was about 90F (32C) here in New York. These photos were taken in the Meat Packing District, with its signature red umbrellas and rustic brick walls, where most of the shows took place this year. Until we see you again, from New York with love!
