The festival now in its second year was a fantastic success providing a platform for local designers, retailers and beauty specialists to showcase their talents at a range of quality events, from classic catwalk glamour to creative workshops over the three-day festival.
Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Elisha McCallion said she was hugely impressed with the wealth of talent that is on our doorstep and paid tribute to everyone involved in the event.
“This was a fantastic event, reflecting the city and distirct’s growing status as a creative design hub, where designers, crafters and artists can become part of a cross-border network of like minded industry professionals. A key element of the festivals success was the input from local designers and retailers who worked in close partnership to deliver outstanding pieces of work. It was also great to see top quality designers such as Helen Cody being part of the celebrations.”
The Mayor added that the Council was committed to working towards supporting the local fashion and creative industries and to providing a forum for local talent to flourish and be a success.
“The city and district has a strong historic connection with fashion and textiles, and a huge talent pool to draw from when it comes to design and the creative industries, which became hugely apparent at the Fashion Fest. The Council is committed to continue to promote events like the Fashion Fest and continue to raise the profile of our local talent.”
