In this unseasonal July weather you can forget about Strawberries and Cream, Pimms and Lemonade on the lawn at home, a good book and a nice beach is the perfect summer combination. That’s according to a survey carried out by Eason, Northern Ireland’s largest retailer of books, stationery, news and magazines.
The survey which was carried out across Northern Ireland revealed some interesting facts around summer reading habits. Choosing holiday books has become an annual ritual for many people with 73% spending all afternoon in a bookshop choosing their books and 52% bringing two to three books with them on holiday.
The genre of books favoured varied greatly, with ‘nail biting thrillers’ coming out on top at 30% while traditional books proved very popular with 83% of people preferring to read a good old fashioned paperback.
Brendan Corbett, Group head of Marketing at Eason said: “Summer is the time to treat yourself and escape with a good book. Eason have compiled a Summer Reading List to ensure you can enjoy great reads all summer long”.
“With plenty of choice from fiction and non-fiction alike, our buyers have selected the best books of the year along with some brand new releases. We are proud of the selection we have made and are sure there will be something for everyone to enjoy whether it’s on the beach or in the back garden this summer”.
