Crumlin Road Goal will host the CLIC Sargent ‘Thank You NI Ball’ on Saturday, March 12, to mark the end of the charity’s Northern Ireland Home from Home Appeal. Fundraisers and charity supporters will come together at a star-studded ball to celebrate raising more than £3.7million to support children and young people with cancer.
Launched in 2012 the appeal aimed to raise enough money to build two new Homes from Home beside the Royal Hospital and the City Hospital. The new homes, called Paul’s House and Amy’s House, provide free accommodation to children and young people going through treatment and their families, to save them from the debilitating and costly effects of travel.
The average round trip journey for a family in Northern Ireland with a child and young person having cancer treatment is 95 miles. This can have a major impact on a family, minimising the time they can spend together, and is exhausting, while the financial impact can be huge.
D & K The Jewellers have donated a beautiful platinum diamond pendant(pictured) which will be given away on the night. The pendant design highlights the care a sick child requires with a central diamond surrounded by a circle of smaller diamonds. The centre diamond representing the ill child while the circle of diamonds represents the love and care a sick child requires.
