Conor McPherson’s The Weir at the Lyric Theatre from 5th – 30th September

On a stormy night in Brendan’s pub, isolated above a Leitrim town, the men are gathering for their daily pint. The arrival of a stranger in their midst – a beautiful woman – spurs them to impress her with stories. They are stories of souls past, spirits present and spectres unforeseen. One story, however, is more chilling, more sinister and more real than any of them could have foreseen.

The Lyric Theatre welcome back Decadent Theatre Company this September following their hugely successful production of The Pillowman in 2015. This co-production of The Weir showcases great Irish writing, from Conor McPherson. McPherson’s plays have been greatly received in the Lyric; The Night Alive starring Adrian Dunbar played in 2015 and The Nest in 2016.

On its première in 1997, The Weir won the Evening Standard, Critics’ Circle and Olivier award for Best New Play, and established Conor McPherson’s eerie tale as a masterpiece of modern theatre. Quietly compelling and strangely chilling, The Weir is the perfect story for a summer’s night. Decadent’s production marks the first major Irish revival and national tour of The Weir, an undoubted modern classic. Starring Garrett Keogh, Marty Maguire, Frankie McCafferty, Kerri Quinn and Patrick Ryan. Directed by Andrew Flynn.

Catch The Weir at the Lyric Theatre from 5th – 30th September. Tickets £24.50, off-peak £15, concessions £10. Check out the Lyric website for more info and to book. lyrictheatre.co.uk
