Charles Hurst Group, Northern Ireland’s biggest car retailer, has been named as the first Motor Retailer in NI to sign up for the Mark of Progress from Diversity Mark NI, for the company’s continued commitment to advancing gender diversity in the workplace.
Diversity Mark NI Ltd is an independent not-for-profit organisation that works to support companies of all sizes to achieve the Charter Mark in recognition of their commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Charles Hurst Group has been driving diversity and inclusion for the last number of years, having already implemented cultural and structural changes internally and working to build a positive and inclusive workplace culture. This act of commitment from the Charles Hurst Group outwardly demonstrates the company’s progress in addressing gender representation at all levels to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
Christine White, Head of Diversity Mark NI commented:
“We are delighted to see Charles Hurst sign up for membership with Diversity Mark today and look forward to working with them over the coming years.
The Charter Mark has enabled organisations to identify and reflect on institutional barriers facing women and minorities, which impact progression on the career ladder. Through this, organisations have also taken steps to progress the overall diversity and equality agenda and improve the working environment for everyone and we hope to see more organisations follow suit and sign up to the Charter Mark this year.”
Celebrating their accolade, Charles Hurst Group Operations Director, Colin McNab said:
“Charles Hurst Group is delighted to be the first motor retailer in Northern Ireland to be working towards achieving the ‘Diversity Charter Mark’. We pride ourselves on creating a positive working environment for our hundreds of staff across all our dealerships and to have our efforts recognised in a formal process is testament to the ongoing commitment of our teams in driving diversity within the workplace.
The Diversity Mark membership demonstrates Charles Hurst’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive working population. Through our relationship with Diversity Mark NI, we can work with other companies across Northern Ireland to share best practice and exchange ideas and we look forward to progressing our work in this area and leading the way over the coming months.”
Part of the Lookers Group, Charles Hurst is the north’s largest motor retailer, representing 22 brands across seven sites including its 20-acre Belfast headquarters, the largest automotive park in Europe.
