Excitement is building for 10 year-old Ellie Eakin from Craigavon as Rushmere Shopping Centre gets ready to welcome Santa to the Mall this Friday, 8 November, at 7pm for their annual Christmas lights-switch on event.
Rushmere has long been at the forefront of holiday tradition enchanting generations of shoppers and the long-treasured tradition continues this year as the Craigavon-based centre has gone to town with new Christmas decorations and a brand new home for merry Saint Nick.
Large numbers are expected to turnout for this year’s seasonal spectacular which is set to dazzle with a sparkling array of life-size iconic images that bring the spirit of the holidays to life. Santa Claus himself will take time out of his busy toy-making schedule to make an appearance and officially mark the start of the festive shopping period and hand out some tasty treats to children of all ages.
Shoppers will also be entertained by local singer Andi Oakes who will be performing out some festive classics along with popular Cool FM presenter Gareth Stewart who will take to the decks to get people into the spirit of the festive season and start the countdown to the big switch-on.

We have some great new decorations to illuminate the mall and retail park and with Santa pulling the switch at 7pm Rushmere will be transformed into a fantasy Christmas wonderland.

With 70 great stores to choose from and Christmas late night shopping starting on Monday 25 November till 10pm, Monday to Friday, and extending to 11pm from Monday 9 December – it’s no wonder Santa comes back to visit year after year.”
