Some of the finest artists in Northern Ireland are teaming up with one of the foremost rugby teams here for a unique showcase of their work. The clubhouse at Belfast Harlequins will be transformed into an art gallery in late April to raise funds to support the development of sport here.
Belfast Harlequins, formed from two of Northern Ireland’s oldest and most prestigious Rugby Clubs, has a long-standing tradition of attracting the province’s top artists to the Clubhouse at Deramore Park to exhibit their latest works.
This exhibition, will run from Wednesday 22nd of April to Sunday 26th of April 2015, and includes work from many local artists including Neil Shawcross, Glynis Burns, Deirdre Burns, Hugh Clawson, Chris Dearden, Adam Frew, Bill Gatt, Cara Gordon, Howard Ross, Pat Hunt, Peter Hutchinson and Les Jones.
While entry is free, art enthusiasts can purchase an exclusive one-off catalogue which is available for £2.50 in aid of club funds to support rugby, hockey, bowls and squash activities at the club.
Leading Ulster and Harlequins rugby players, Richard Lutton & Neil McComb will open the exhibition at a private preview on Tuesday 21st of April, and visitors are welcome to view the work from 10am to 10pm Wednesday and Thursday, 10am until 5pm Friday and Saturday and 12pm until 4.30pm on Sunday.
