East Belfast interior fit out company ALD Fit Out has today announced an increase of 20 per cent on sales in the first half of 2015 (compared to the same period last year) a company rebrand worth an investment of £30,000 and the employment of two new staff members.

The 30 year-old company which employs 21 staff from their 25,000 sq.ft. complex on Prince Regent Road, houses offices, storage, showroom and workshops as well as sister business Equipashop, a retail equipment specialist brand – which has also undergone a complete rebrand.

The family-run business (formerly Alan Lewis Displays) has maintained its record of year-on-year growth throughout the lean years of the recession, and was founded by Alan and his wife Marjorie Lewis in 1985.

Marjorie Lewis remains the company’s financial controller, with Son Julian as director of the company and daughter Stephanie who heads up the Health and Safety department. Alan’s brother John Lewis holds the position of sales manager.

Speaking of ALD Fit Out’s strong performance during the lean years, director Julian Lewis commented: “When the recession, hit we had to get strategic. We began to focus on different areas of the business, and target them for improvement.”

The rebranding of Equipashop also reflects the company’s increasingly diverse offer. ALD Fit Out became involved in retail equipment supply some years ago, and the new venture now makes substantially contributes to its turnover.

Sales in the ROI and mainland UK are buoyant, while online retail has given the company exposure to new markets in Europe, the Middle East, and the US.

However, Lewis continues: “It was great to build a whole new channel – but we found it frustrating when customers would arrive at the showroom to buy retail equipment and tell us that they didn’t realise we did fit out, too. The rebrand of ALD Fit Out and Equipashop shows the extent of our capabilities, and of our ambitions.”

New Equipashop websites target both Ireland and the UK mainland, where the company aims to increase its market share. Meanwhile, ALD Fit Out is focusing on Northern Ireland’s burgeoning commercial sector for the next phase of its development, headed up by newly appointed staff member, Stephen McMahon. The E-Commerce side of the business will be headed up by Patrick Corrigan.

Julian Lewis concluded: “Northern Ireland is crying out for more Grade A office space,” says Lewis. “This is the sort of work that we love doing and we have a firm strategy to help us grow this burgeoning market.”

ALD Fit Out’s client list includes Pronuptia, McConvey Cycles, Paul Costelloe, Rio & Brazil, Exhibit, Hedz and Coca Cola. visit or
