Oliveen Kelly has 30 years of experience in hairdressing, as well as 25 years working with wigs.
In 2016 Oliveen acquired a beautiful three-storey Victorian building, which was built circa 1874. She carried out extensive renovations and the building now features a dedicated wig consultation area and wig styling floor, separate to the main hairdressing salon on the first floor. These areas provide total privacy and discretion.
On the top floor she provides a VIP salon for when treatment is over and clients wish to have their hair cut, coloured and styled. Oliveen uses only organic hair colours and hair products, and on this day can provide refreshments of the customer’s choice. She is happy to chat through these options and any specific needs that clients may have.
Oliveen’s vast experience means she not only is passionate about finding the best pieces to suit each person, but also understands the stress and upset hair-loss can cause, and so deals with each client with the utmost care and empathy.
“I have thin hair myself, so wig-making was an area I wanted to explore and was something that really interested me,” explains Oliveen. “From there, I became interested in all types of hair enhancements, from extensions to full wigs, frontal pieces, fringes and toupées.”
She has been working with a wig maker in London for the past 15 years, who trained her in the cutting and styling of wigs and hairpieces, as well as advising her on how to find the best hair solutions for her clients’ individual needs.
Hair loss can take many forms and create many different challenges, but Oliveen has specialist experience in dealing with the requirements of countless different clients. As she explains: “In my years as a hairdresser I have seen many forms of hair loss, including male pattern baldness and all forms of alopecia. The most common in females is frontal alopecia, where the hairline recedes back. However, I have worked successfully with each of these and I am confident in saying I have found solutions to the challenges of each kind of hair loss. A large range of hairpieces can be integrated with people’s existing hair, and cut to match their current style.”
Oliveen, has had an increase in clients seeking solutions for hair-loss caused by cancer treatment in the last few years. For this purpose, she has sourced high quality, ready-to-wear human and synthetic hair wigs in a wide range of styles and colours, to help people continue to feel like themselves while they undergo their treatment.
