Northern Ireland’s leading interior fit out company; ALD Fit Out has today announced a complete redesign and shop fit contract with Belfast’s McConvey Cycles, worth in excess of £100,000.

The new deal represents growth in the retail market for ALD, which makes up approximately 50 per cent of the work for the locally owned, family-run business. The 30 year-old company which employs 21 staff from their 25,000 sq.ft. complex on Prince Regent Road, houses offices, storage, showroom and workshops as well as sister business Equipashop, a retail equipment specialist brand.

Located on Belfast’s Ormeau Road, McConvey Cycles redesign has allowed the 20 year-old business to reposition itself as one of the leading bike and accessories retailers in Ireland.

A completely new layout, with fresh flooring, new stairs, ceiling, electrics, vinyl wall covering and bespoke display brackets, has allowed the business to increase the number of products on display. The bicycle superstore can now also offer customers a ‘Body Geometry Fitting Room’, a facility that allows staff to accurately set up the bicycle to the customer’s exact measurements.

Eamon McConvey, owner, McConvey Cycles commented: “I am absolutely delighted with the level of service and expertise which Alan and the team has delivered – the end design and fit-out is out of this world and really gives us a competitive edge to rival any bike store in Ireland and indeed the UK.

“The Body Geometry Fitting Room allows us to adjust bikes to suit individual needs – and gives bike enthusiasts another reason to visit us.

“Not only can they browse over 100 bikes that we have in the store, complete with all of the accessories, but they can also get their actual size fitted to their own bike. This gives them the edge on competitiveness, improves technique and reduces the likelihood of injury. We are simply thrilled with ALD’s delivery on this project.”

Alan Lewis, director of ALD Fitout commented: “We have worked closely with Eamon right through from the initial design concept to final handover.

“We completed the whole job -including all the electrical work and signage as well as floors, stairs, and ceilings – in one calendar month as no business can afford the business to have any more downtime than that.

“We’re particularly proud of the decor, which sees scenes from across Ireland—including an iconic shot taken during the Giro d’Italia’s recent visit to Belfast.”
